ABOUT US
Most of us have lived in our homes for over 20 years. While Silver Sage has generally been a peaceful place, over the past few years, there have been a few incidents of vandalism and petty theft. These events shook the community’s sense of security.
Being a long-time resident, a group of residents decided it was time to take action. Hearing about neighborhood watch programs they decided it could be the solution to the problem. The group rallied the neighbors, and soon they gathered together, discussing the formation of their very own neighborhood watch group.
Through regular meetings and an active social media group, the residents shared information about local crime trends and preventive measures. They learned to recognize and report suspicious behavior, significantly reducing the risk of crimes like burglaries and thefts. The neighborhood watch also has set up a system to quickly alert each other and law enforcement in case of emergencies.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
AREA LEADER
Dave Egelund - Area Leader
Hi, my name is Dave Egelund. I have lived in Sandy for 18 years with my wife and raised our family here.
I have been involved with Neighborhood Watch as an Area Leader for over 22 years. Why? I saw drug deals happen on our neighborhood streets in Sugar House, and didn’t want that there or here!
I believe that together we can make our neighborhood a better, safer place for all of us. I have seen it happen, and know that we can keep it that way.
I can’t do it myself. It takes everyone of us in Silver Sage to pull this off. Having worked closely with Sandy Police, the Mayor and Sandy City Council, I know that they also want Sandy to be as crime free and safe as possible.
I appreciate their help with these programs.
I am pleased that we are piggybacking Emergency Preparedness with our Neighborhood Watch. They both go hand in hand. With both of these programs, we have the opportunity to have the safest, and most prepared neighborhood possible.
Please join in and help this become a reality by signing up for emails, attending our meetings and using this website for training and tips.
